How the audit works
Every number in the report is computed from real public TikTok data — not estimated from follower count alone. When KOLens first sees a creator, the scraper pulls the most recent videos from the public TikTok feed, capturing view counts, like counts, comment counts, posting dates, and bio. The audit reads those raw video rows directly.
Engagement rate is the most-asked-about number, so we compute it the way researchers actually need it: total likes plus comments on a video, divided by views, then averaged across the recent batch. A 4-6% engagement rate is the healthy TikTok baseline. The dedicated TikTok engagement rate calculator breaks down the formulas in more detail if you want to check the math.
Authenticity score is the audit's headline trust signal — a composite from 8 sub-signals including follower-growth velocity, engagement consistency across recent posts, comment quality (real conversation vs. emoji spam), bio-link surface area, posting cadence stability, audience geographic plausibility, video diversity, and verification status. Each sub-signal is computed independently and blended. The TikTok creator authenticity score blog post walks through each sub-signal and how to read the result.
Audience country is inferred from public TikTok signals — primarily the language and locale signals attached to recent commenters and the creator's own posting locale. The top-3 country mix is a directional estimate, useful for "is this US-leaning or Asia-leaning?" but not a substitute for a paid panel-based audience study. The estimate sharpens with each fresh KOLens scrape.
Why the 100k-follower threshold? Below 100k, the statistical signal becomes too noisy for any of the composites to be reliable — a handful of viral videos from a small account can swing engagement rate by 10x and make authenticity scores meaningless. KOLens is built for brand and agency outreach where reach matters, so we surface only creators large enough to deliver meaningful campaigns.

Frequently asked questions
- How accurate is the TikTok audit?
- The audit is built on real video data KOLens has already scraped from public TikTok surfaces — follower count, recent video views, like and comment counts, posting dates, and bio. Engagement rate is computed as (likes + comments) divided by views, averaged across the most recent posts. Audience country shares are estimated from public TikTok signals. KOLens refreshes its snapshot regularly; the report shows the last-updated timestamp so you can judge freshness.
- Is the TikTok creator audit free?
- Yes. The 1-page TikTok creator audit is free with no signup, no credit card, and no rate limit on individual lookups. KOLens monetizes the paid product — bulk search, outreach drafts, contact emails, exports — but the public audit is free forever for any creator with at least 100k followers that we already track.
- What does each section mean?
- The header card shows the creator's display name, handle, follower count, and verification badge. Stats grid summarizes followers, posts, average views, average engagement rate, total hearts, and last post date. Authenticity is a composite score from 8 sub-signals (follower velocity, engagement consistency, comment quality, etc.). Audience country shows where viewers are based. Posting cadence estimates posts-per-week over the account's lifetime. Recent content lists the 5-8 most recent videos with their view counts.
- Why does KOLens require 100k+ followers?
- KOLens is built for brand and agency outreach, so we only track creators large enough to deliver meaningful campaign reach. Below 100k followers, signal quality (engagement averages, audience country inference, authenticity composites) becomes noisy and unreliable. If the creator you searched for isn't tracked, sign up for a free KOLens account and run a fresh search — we'll add them to the database automatically.
- Can I export the audit?
- The free 1-page audit is browser-only — you can share the URL with anyone (the handle is in the URL as ?handle=...) and they'll see the same report. To export structured data (CSV / Excel with engagement, emails, audience breakdowns across multiple creators), the paid KOLens workspace gives you bulk exports, saved lists, outreach drafts, and an MCP endpoint your AI tools can call.
- How is this different from TikTok's own analytics?
- TikTok's native analytics is private — only the creator can see their own dashboard. KOLens computes a public-facing audit from the same surfaces a brand researcher would see externally: bio, recent videos, view and like counts, posting dates. The advantage is you can audit anyone you might want to work with — competitors' brand ambassadors, creators you're considering for a campaign — without asking them for access to their dashboard.
